Samuel Edward Mac is a UK-based director who grew up in Asia and the Middle East. His work explores stories about outsiders, social satire, and the power of imagination. He has directed short films, spots, music videos, episodic content, and VR experiences.
His short film, Face (2021), “a striking journey of a young person finding the strength and courage to stand up for himself...and a homage to both the enduring craft and appeal of classic horror films”, was selected by SODEC to showcase at Clermont-Ferrand in addition to 20+ film festivals.
Wraith (2023), a dark fantasy inspired by norse mythology, premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival, winning Best Sound Design. Doomscrolling (2024), a short satirical internet film, dropped in late 2024, picking up selections at numerous online outlets.
In addition to developing a first feature, Sam is exploring AI direction for Curious Refuge and Narrative Coders.
